How to Update the iPad Scoring App
As of July 21, 2026, older versions of the iPad Scoring app are no longer supported. If you're on an older version, the app may not open, sync, or let you score games. Updating takes about a minute.
Why you need to update
We've released an important update to the GameSheet iPad Scoring app. To support new features and keep scoring reliable, versions older than 6.0.0 are no longer supported. On an unsupported version you may notice erratic behaviour, such as being unable to log in, games failing to load, or errors when attempting to perform actions.
Updating to the latest version fixes this. We recommend keeping the app up to date on every iPad your league uses to score games.
Check which version you have
Not sure whether you need to update? Here's how to check your current version:
- Open the iPad Scoring app and sign in.
- From the Games page, tap the settings cog icon ⚙️ in the upper-right corner.
- Your current app version is displayed here. If it's below 6.0.0, follow the steps below to update.
Can't sign in?
The version number is only visible from the Games page, so you need to be signed in to see it. If you're on an unsupported version, you may not be able to sign in at all. In that case, go straight to the update steps below.
How to update
- On your iPad, open the App Store.
- Tap the Search tab and search for GameSheet.
- Find the GameSheet app in the results.
- If an update is available, tap Update. If you see Open instead, you already have the latest version.
- Wait for the download to finish, then open the app and log in as usual.
Turn on automatic updates (recommended)
Turning on automatic updates means your iPads stay current on their own, so you won't run into this again before a game.
- Open the Settings app on the iPad.
- Tap App Store.
- Under Automatic Downloads, turn on App Updates.
Still having trouble?
If updating doesn't resolve the issue, try these steps in order:
- Confirm the iPad has a working internet connection (open Safari and load any website to test).
- Make sure the iPad meets the minimum requirements — it must run iOS 15 or newer. See iPad Scoring App Requirements.
- Restart the iPad, then open the App Store and try the update again.
- If the App Store shows Open but the app still doesn't work, delete the app and reinstall it. See Installing the iPad Scoring App.
If the problem persists, contact GameSheet Support and include:
- Your organization or league name
- Your iPad model
- Your iPadOS version (if known)
- The app version shown on the login screen (if you can open the app)
- A screenshot or description of the issue
Frequently asked questions
-
Will updating delete any games I've already scored?
No. Games are saved to your GameSheet account. Updating the app won't remove your data. If you have a game in progress that hasn't finished syncing, connect to the internet and let it upload before updating.
-
The App Store says "Open," not "Update." What does that mean?
It means you already have the latest version installed. No action needed.
-
Do I have to update every iPad?
Yes. Any iPad used to score games needs to be on version 6.0.0 or newer.
-
Is there an Android version?
No. The GameSheet iPad Scoring app is available for iPad only.
